About Dansity

The artistic directors of Dansity Amsterdam, Eva Villanueva and Pieter de Ruiter, are amongst the leading choreographers of the Netherlands. The Dansity Foundation was established in 1990 by Pieter de Ruiter and it has produced a large number of successful performances both in the Netherlands and abroad.
Eva Villanueva joined the artistic staff in 1998 and they have collaborated on all of the productions since then.

The choreographies are characterized by an intriguing movement vocabulary based on interwoven classical and modern dance techniques. By adding everyday movements and through staging the choreography in extreme situations, they create an original idiom that is used to present themes that are relevant to modern society.

In order to further enrich the creations, they work regularly together with acknowledged artists from different disciplines such as the visual arts, poetry, music, and theatre, and often commission original music compositions which whenever possible are played live during the performances.
Since 1992 the Grand Theatre Groningen is co-producer of Dansity Amsterdam.
