Echt?
The Song Of Songs inspired choreographer Pieter de Ruiter for his creation of a new theatre/dance production. In Echt? the content of the biblical love song (from the Song of Songs) is reduced to daily reality. Full of bitterness and looking back to a lost youth, an old couple (actors) is mirrored by a young couple (dancers), who are still full of hope and longing. The famed Dutch theatre director Gerardjan Rijnders rewrote the biblical song into a dialogue for the actors Els Ingeborg Smits and Cas Enklaar and collaborated in the staging of the piece.
ECHT? Has been highly praised by the critics, and was named by the Volkskrant as one of the top ten performances of the season.
